Preliminary :
Niharkana Rehabilitation Center has been set up as a non-Government voluntary organization operating in an around Dum Dum Jn area to provide education, food, dress materials and other developmental works for the orphaned street children so that they are able to become perfect human beings and stand on their own feet to shape their own futures. For the last one year this organisation has been providing various rehabilitation packages for 20 orphan girl children.
Education :
Many children aged between 4 and 14 are taught everyday in two hour shifts in the morning and evening. The curriculum prepares the children to face admission tests in Schools. They are also taught art and music. Books and exercise copies are provided by various right minded persons who feel the inner urge to carry out such social work.
Food :
The children are provided with breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. The food items vary from simple food to special menus sometimes.
Clothing :
On receipt of clothing materials from various donors’ children are given decent dresses.
Health :
Children undergo weekly health checkups. They are provided medicines as per prescriptions on such health checkups. Even this organization arranged health awareness programmes twice during the year and they were attended by 15 mothers.
Extra-curricular Activities :
Cultural programme held on the occasion of 31st August.
ETV Bangla Dance Programme held on 30th October.
Saraswati Puja held on 20th January.
Excursion Tour held at Swarupnagar (near Kachua Dham) on 26th January.
The children participated in recitation and song programme organized by Rotary Club of Dum Dum held on 1st February.
Conclusion :
This organization continuously aim to provide rehabilitation to various street children so that they become respectable citizens of this country.

6) 20th January, 2010 : Saraswati Puja organized by our students.
7) 26th January, 2010 : Excursion Tour at Swarupnagar (near Kachua Dham).
8) 30th January, 2010 : Annual Sports at Dum Dum Metro Ground.
9) 1st February, 2010 : Students programme at Ganganagar, organized by
Rotary Club of Dum Dum.
